Alejandro Santiago

At a very young age Alejandro Santiago had already caught the attention of an international audience.

Through much of the 1990's Alejandro lived and exhibited in Paris, by this time Alejandro had already developed his very distinctive style inspired by his native Zapotec ancestry.

Whilst in Paris he was able to spend many days in the multitude of Parisian Museums not available to him in his native Oaxaca.

Through this period, we see different influences in his paintings inspired by the centuries of art Alejandro was now exposed to.

These two beautiful oils on wood are wonderful examples of his work during this period.

They have the very recognizable imagery of Alejandro Santiago, juxtaposed to beautifully drawn images of classical nudes.

These works show the great dexterity of Alejandro's skill as an artist and the ability to incorporate new influences into his already well-defined work.
