The exhibition includes an introductory video, which highlights the important role Ricardo Martínez played in the progression of Mexican modernism, as well as an anecdotal video depicting interviews of various associates and contemporaries who had contact with the painter during the development of his artistic career.

A timeline is also presented, which chronicles of the artist’s life and artistic development, along with a map of relationships that displays the characters who starred in his personal and artistic life.

New Vision (Words from Bellas Artes)

“The exhibited pieces show little known aspects of the works of Ricard Martínez, with techniques relatively unnoticed until now, such as the use of sgraffito, or which have not had proper circulation, such as sanguine drawings.

There is also a display of distinctive and frequent subjects in different stages of his artistic development: mothers and children, female and male nudes, landscape with agaves and characters from popular tradition. This section will also enable the viewers to identify the creative moments or stages in which his work developed into his characteristic style, while showing the influence on his early development of artists Frederico Cantú , Julio Castellanos and José Clemente Orozco.

In this section, the changes and fixed values in Martínez’s painting, as well as the use of certain subjects and techniques are easily perceived and trace a plastic path, thus allowing the viewer to get better acquainted with his production and enhancing the knowledge of his work.”
